Compensation of digestion disorders.

The alterations of digestion is a very wide range of symptoms that go through dysphagia and regurgitation, nausea and abdominal pain among many others, the most common being vomiting and diarrhea. There is a racial predisposition that determines the probabilities of appearance of this type of symptoms and among the usual causes are the ingestion of foreign bodies, changes in the diet, non-recommended or even forbidden foods, as well as viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi. The most recurrent digestive diseases are gastritis, generated by an irritation of the gastric mucosa, gastroenteritis produced by an infection of the digestive tract or colitis, any of these diseases can have acute or chronic character.

The nutritional management of these symptoms is based on a high digestibility of its ingredients, low antigenicity and ingredients or supplements precursors of the intestinal flora.

Although in chronic gastritis, the most advisable is the wet food, the proposed recipe is easily hydrated, with a moderate fiber content and highly digestible ingredients, this diet is also suitable for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of Omega-3 fatty acids and MSM supplemented in the recipe and the high digestibility of its ingredients and also occurs with colitis. In all these cases, the use of probiotics plays a fundamental role in the maintenance and improvement of the intestinal flora directly affected by these pathologies and extremely necessary for the restoration of the patient’s condition.

Reduction of intestinal absorption disorders.

These disorders present a high prevalence in the clinic, chronic diarrhea present as the main symptom and can lead to the diagnosis of malabsorption syndromes. These are dangerous insofar as the chronic diarrhea and vomiting, thinning accompanied by polyphagia, hypoproteinemia, abdominal pain and dysbiosis of the intestinal flora are or may be present.
The treatment of these disorders should be a dietary treatment in combination with a pharmacological treatment. A highly digestible diet, with highly digestible proteins, with fatty acids and prebiotics that favor the growth of Lactobacillus so it is suggested that supplementation with probiotics only favors and improves the microbiota of the dog.

Maintenance of dermal function in case of dermatosis and excessive hair loss.

We dealt previously with food-allergic dermatopathia, focusing the nutritional objective on the limitation of these with the nutritional ability for the management of any type of dermatopathy.
Within the skin diseases, the main one is atopic dermatitis (AD), this is conditioned by a genetic predisposition to present hypersensitivity to
environmental allergens such as dust mites, dust, molds…
In atopic dogs it is feasible to find dermatitis caused by Malassezia or flea bites, that is to say, they exceed the nutritional treatment since the treatment
with antibiotics, topical and/or antiparasitic treatments together with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is essential, but even in these cases, a diet rich in EFA, especially in eicosapentaenoic acid and linoleic acid that intervene in the anti-inflammatory activity by the formation of prostaglandins is very useful in the improvement of the symptoms of these pathologies. Finally, studies show that the use of probiotics, especially in early exposure, has beneficial effects on clinical and immunological effects, especially the use of Lactobacillus rhamnosus.
